Nick F. Forooghi, Attorney-at-Law

Mr. Forooghi, is a founder of Santa Clara Law Group and the managing partner. He is admitted to the State Bar of California, and licensed to practice in California courts of law and the United States District Court, Northern District of California.

Nick has lived in San Jose, California for over thirty (30) years, is an alumnus of Lincoln Law School, and a graduate of San Jose State University. He represents our clients in family law, personal injury, and general civil matters. He also has extensive experience in advising small and medium size companies with their commercial and corporate issues and business legal matters they have to deal with on a daily basis. Whether a transactional matter, general counseling, or litigation, Nick’s experience as an attorney, as well as a very experienced former business executive has been indispensable to his business clients. Nick is a reasonable but fearless counselor of law in his approach to representation of every one of his clients. He understands the great value in role of an attorney as one who–in the best interest of his/her clients—tries his level best in seeking a just and swift compromised settlement, but is also always ready and prepared to go through a full trial when nothing less will do.

Mr. Forooghi worked as a law clerk at Matthew Newman & Associates from 2003 through 2006 and as an attorney in that firm through October of 2009. He has also had a concurrent solo practice since 2006 and established Santa Clara Law Group in November 2009. Nick is also a Professor of Law at Lincoln Law School in San Jose, California; teaching the subject of “Remedies” to graduating classes of the school (4L), and “Personal Property” to 2L students every summer. During law school, he served on the Law Review editorial staff, and also authored case note and articles that were published by the Lincoln Law Review and the Gavel; the law school’s quarterly paper.

Prior to practice of law, Nick built a solid career as a professional manager in the Hi-Tech/Start-Up industry and then co-owned and operated a dynamic and successful consumer goods manufacturing/importing company for over a dozen years from 1991 to 2003, in Santa Clara, California.

Grey R, Cohen, Attorney-at-Law

Mr. Cohen specializes in Family Law matters, and is one of the most well known, referred to, and admired attorneys in the Santa Cruz County and vicinity. Although our practice is not limited to Family Law matters, it is noteworthy to state how proficient, fearless and yet caring Mr. Cohen is in his approach to serving his Family Law clients. Prior to his years as an attorney, for over seven years, Grey Cohen gained the invaluable experience of working for the Superior Courts of California, as a family law legal process clerk, in the California Superior Courts for the Counties of Humboldt, Contra Costa and Santa Cruz. He represents our firm also in Monterey-Salinas and San Benito County Family Law cases.

Grey attended John F. Kennedy School of Law and completed his Juris Doctoral program in that school. As a law student, he earned the prestigious Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Constitutional Law, 2001, and Wills & Trusts 2003.

He has served as an intern with Contra Costa District Attorney’s office in the Domestic Violence Prevention Unit and in 2002 he engaged internship at the Law office of Susan E. Christiansen, Certified Family Law Specialist in Fairfield, California. He then represented clients as and Associate Attorney, from May 2007 to June 2010, at the Law office Of Nick P. Barthel, Certified Family Law Specialist.

Since January of 2008, in service to the community, as a volunteer counselor and attorney at law, Grey has served Pro-bono, as the “on call” attorney for the Walnut Avenue Women’s Center, in the City of Santa Cruz, Domestic Violence Prevention, while working as a solo practitioner.

In March of 2011, Mr. Cohen joined Santa Clara Law Group. Grey Cohen protects the best interest of his clients without compromise; with skill, intelligence, and integrity. We are proud to have him on our roster of attorneys in service of our clients and our communities.

Karen Wynholds Schulz, Attorney-at-Law

Karen Wynholds Schulz is a native of the South Bay and is deeply committed to the community here. She graduated fromUniversity of California, Los Angeles before attending Santa Clara University School of Law, where she was an editor on the San Clara Law Review. She represents clients primarily in immigration matters, including victims of crimes and human trafficking, asylum, family petitions, worker visas and green cards, and removal defense. She is dedicated to cultural diversity and her country.

Mrs. Schulz has been devoted to the field of immigration since her law school years. She was a law clerk for the Immigration Department of Littler Mendelson PC in San Jose in 2008, where she practiced business immigration, such as H-1B and O Visas. She then worked as a law clerk for NextG Networks during 2009, assisting the Legal Department with corporate matters, litigation research, and contract drafting and review. Also in 2009, she began volunteering at the Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center, which she still does presently. There she handles primarily visas for victims of crime and human trafficking and general advising. In 2011, she was awarded the Commitment Award by the KGACLC. She is also trained in mediation.

Upon graduation, Mrs. Schulz founded her own private practice in immigration law and a non-profit organization, Step Forward Foundation, in order to serve the low-income community. She joined the Santa Clara Law Group in October 2011.

Mrs. Schulz is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of California (Bar Number 273572) and U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Santa Clara County Bar Association. Mrs. Schulz also posts a blog about immigration updates.
